EAT, DRINK, SLEEP, THEN LIFT
FUEL & RECOVERY
General training notes for members in Singapore weather. This is not a clinic, not a supplement shop, and not a meal-plan mill.
Most members at Fitbodyjourney eat out more often than they cook. That is normal here. The job is to make hawker plates and office canteens support a lifting week, not to pretend everyone has a meal-prep Sunday. Coached Plus includes nutrition support in this same framework: portions, timing around sessions, and when to speak to a dietitian. Nobody is sold a shake at the desk.
The recovery slot is part of Coached and Coached Plus. It is easy work on purpose. If you treat it as a second Conditioning 45, you have missed the point of the week we wrote.
EATING AROUND TRAINING
On a 06:00 session, eat something small that you already tolerate: eggs on toast, yoghurt and fruit, or leftover rice with a piece of chicken. Training fasted because the feed is still shut is a choice some members make; it is not a method we require. If you feel light-headed under a bar, that is a fuelling problem, not a toughness test.
After training, a hawker plate can do the job. Chicken rice is a useful example: keep the chicken portion close to a palm and a half, eat the rice, add cucumber, and be honest about how much chilli oil is doing the talking. Fish soup with rice, mixed economy rice with a proper meat scoop, nasi goreng with an egg: these are normal meals. Two leaves of lettuce on satay is not a post-squat plate.
If lunch is your main meal because dinner is a work function, put protein there, not only noodles. If dinner is late, we would rather you eat than skip because the session was at 18:00. The block already accounts for Singapore work hours. Your plate should too.
HYDRATION IN SINGAPORE'S HEAT
You will sweat more here than in a temperate gym, even in air-conditioning, especially if you walked from the MRT at 07:30. Start the session with water already in you. Sip through the hour. On heavier days, an electrolyte drink can help if you are a salty sweater; it is not a personality. We do not publish sweat-rate prescriptions for strangers on a website. Watch for dizziness, a headache that is not your usual, unusually dark urine, or cramping that is new. Those are signs to stop, drink, and if they persist, speak to a doctor. This is general wellbeing language, not a diagnosis.
Alcohol the night before a 06:00 squat session is legal and unwise. We will not moralise. We will reduce the load if you arrive dehydrated and call it what it is in the logbook.
PROTEIN AND PORTIONS
A simple hand-based picture is enough for most members: a palm of protein at breakfast, a palm to two at lunch, a palm to two at dinner, plus whatever the session day needs. Spreading protein across the day beats one giant evening plate. We do not issue calorie targets, 'macros', or medical numbers framed as advice. If you need that level of planning because of a clinical condition, we refer you to a dietitian.
Fruit, vegetables and rice are not the enemy of lifting. Neither is the occasional slice of cake at a birthday. Consistency across the four-week block is the habit we care about.
SLEEP AND STRESS
If you average five hours because of a deal close, the block should get quieter, not louder. Tell the coach before the warm-up. We can drop intensity and keep the pattern. What we cannot do is make a sleep-deprived nervous system recover from extra drop sets. Stress from work is not a moral failing. It is a load. We already count bar load; we should count this too.
Late caffeine is a common reason 06:00 members still feel wrecked. Shift the last coffee earlier if sleep is the limiter. That is a suggestion, not a medical protocol.
THE RECOVERY SLOT
The recovery room is the same floor: a bike, a rower, a sled lane, and a mobility circuit posted on the wall. You walk, you pedal at a pace you could hold a conversation at, you move hips and T-spine through a written sequence. There is no sauna. There is no ice bath. There will not be one next quarter either. If you want heat, Singapore already provided it on the walk here.
Book the recovery slot like a class so the bikes are not a rumour. Thirty to forty minutes is enough. If you finish dripping as if you did Conditioning 45, you went too hard.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
Fitbodyjourney does not sell supplements, meal plans dressed as medical nutrition, or injections. We do not run detoxes. We will not argue with your dietitian; we will work alongside notes they send. If your situation needs clinical nutrition (disordered eating history, diabetes management, pregnancy), we stop general chat and refer. The kitchen corner is a kettle, a sink, a fridge shelf for food you brought, and a water refill. Put your name on anything you store. Do not leave raw chicken 'for later' in a communal fridge on a fifth floor in this climate.
BRING YOUR WEEK, NOT A MEAL SPREADSHEET
The trial asks what you actually eat on a workday, including hawker lunches. We will fit training around that, then talk recovery like adults.
